Auf nach Doha. Mit Qatar\u00a0Airways\u00a0ging es von Frankfurt direkt in die Hauptstadt zum nagelneuen Hamad\u00a0international Airport. Nachdem ich Visum und Koffer\u00a0hatte, fuhr ich mit einem Taxi zum Wyndham\u00a0Hotel am Sports Circle. Letzteres ist vor allem den Taxifahrern ein Begriff und half mir immer sehr gut zur\u00fcck zu kommen. Ich war insgesamt eine knappe Woche in der Stadt, gespickt mit vielen Kundenterminen. Aber Nachmittags bzw. Abends hatte ich meistens Zeit mir etwas anzuschauen.<\/p>\n

Doha liegt direkt an der K\u00fcste, an einer halbmondf\u00f6rmigen Bucht. S\u00fcdlich ist die Altstadt, oder was davon \u00fcbrig ist, und n\u00f6rdlich das moderne Wolkenkratzer\u00a0Viertel. Da ich die Architektur\u00a0von den Hochh\u00e4usern toll finde, bin ich am ersten Nachmittag dorthin gefahren und habe mir diese spektakul\u00e4ren Bauten angeschaut. Sie geh\u00f6ren meistens den \u00d6l- und Gasfirmen\u00a0und hin und wieder auch Banken. Besonders gut gefallen haben mir der Tornadotower\u00a0und der Burj\u00a0Doha. Zur\u00fcck bin ich nicht gefahren, sondern gut 6km die Corniche\u00a0entlang bis zum Souk gelaufen. Dabei konnte ich das Training f\u00fcr ein Speedboatrennen anschauen.
\nAm Souk angekommen, tauchte ich in einen lebendigen Markt ein, der mir sehr gut gefiel, auch wenn es nicht wirklich alt ist. Der Emir lie\u00df\u00a0den Markt vor ein paar Jahren nach altem Vorbild, neu errichten. Drumherum wurde fast alles plattgemacht und es entstehen moderne Geb\u00e4ude.
\nGenerell muss ich sagen, es gibt hier nicht viel zu sehen: Wolkenkratzer, Shopping Malls, den Souk und das Museum f\u00fcr islamische Kunst – Das wars!
\nF\u00fcr einen Stopover sicher ausreichend, aber f\u00fcr einen Urlaub eindeutig zu wenig.<\/p>\n

In den folgenden Tagen konnte ich mir auch die restlichen Sehensw\u00fcrdigkeiten anschauen. Besonders das Museum hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Allein die Architektur\u00a0ist atemberaubend. Gigantisch in den Ausma\u00dfen, sehr strukturiert, modern und doch mit islamischen Elementen. Wirklich gelungen. Aber auch die Kunst ist interessant. Aus vielen L\u00e4ndern zusammengetragen werden hier Bilder und Kunstobjekte des Islam ausgestellt. Der Eintritt ist sogar kostenlos.<\/p>\n

Auch in einer Shoppingmall\u00a0war ich. Hier ist besonders die Villagio\u00a0Mall interessant. Im inneren findet man sich in Venedig wieder, komplett mit Kan\u00e4len und Gondeln. Zur weiteren Unterhaltung gibt es auch noch einen Vergn\u00fcgungspark und eine Eisfl\u00e4che. Eingerahmt ist die Mall von einem riesigen Sportkomplex, der zu den Asienspielen\u00a0vor einigen Jahren gebaut worden ist und nun f\u00fcr die Fussball WM renoviert wird.
\nEs gibt noch eine weitere „Attraktion“: The Pearl. Das ist eine k\u00fcnstliche Insel mit einem neuen Wohngebiet extra f\u00fcr Ausl\u00e4nder. Nur dort gibt es Alkohol zu kaufen. Noch stehen die meisten Wohnungen aber leer. Das k\u00f6nnte auch am Preis liegen.<\/p>\n

Zu guter letzt habe ich die restlichen Stunden bis zum R\u00fcckflug am Meer verbracht. Neben dem Museum liegt ein Park auf einer Landzunge in dem sich die Familien zum picknicken treffen. Von dort kann man sehr sch\u00f6n die Skyline Dohas bewundern.<\/p>\n
